The preservation of cultural heritage is crucial for maintaining historical identity, social cohesion, and educational resources. As cultural heritage faces growing threats from natural disasters, urbanization, and climate change, the application of digital technologies has become essential for effective preservation. This paper explores the integration of digital tools such as 3D modeling, geographic information systems (GIS), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) in the preservation of cultural heritage sites and artifacts. Focusing on the multidisciplinary nature of cultural heritage preservation, this article examines how computer science, archaeology, and digital humanities collaborate to safeguard cultural assets. The paper highlights case studies from Pakistan, showcasing the country’s efforts in utilizing digital technology for heritage conservation. It also discusses the challenges and opportunities in preserving heritage through digital means, providing a framework for future initiatives.
